And I know Your love has won it all You took the fall To embrace my sorrows I know You took the fight You came and died but the grave was borrowed I know You stood again So I can stand with a life to follow In the light of Your name
- Lyrics from “Love is War”, Hillsong United, Zion (album)
“We need to stop giving people excuses not to believe in God. You’ve probably heard the expression ‘I believe in God, just not organized religion’. I don’t think people would say that if the church truly lived like we are called to live.” ― Francis Chan, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God
We say things like, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” and “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Then we live and plan like we don’t believe God even exists. We try to set our lives up so everything will be fine even if God doesn’t come through. But true faith means holding nothing back. It means putting every hope in God’s fidelity to His promises.
Our greatest fear as individuals and as a church should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.
If life were stable, I’d never need God’s help. Since it’s not, I reach out for Him regularly. I am thankful for the unknowns and that I don’t have control, because it makes me run to God.

"Be the right person, for the right person, at the right time, in the right way, for the right reasons." Stole this quote off my cousin’s Facebook wall, but she attributes it to Mark Driscoll. :)
Anything that is tied to our emotions will cloud our ability to make wise decisions, especially when it involves our tender hearts that respond most warmly and happily to love and affection. But there is wisdom in recognising when is the right time, the right place, the right season and the right person.. So that we can guard ourselves against unnecessary hurt when our spirit already knows what our flesh sometimes stubbornly refuses to acknowledge; our flesh favours the attention we are being showered in the moment. The decisions of man may be swifter than God’s, but the joy and the timing of the Lord’s blessings is always sharp, accurate, hits the mark, and will always surpass our expectations. So don’t settle for the compromise when what God has promised you is joy unspeakable, glorious beauty, and abounding peace. :)
